Kuttikarshakakootam Students Attend World Environment Day Seminar on Nutrition Security at Puthoorvayal
Puthoorvayal: CAbC-MSSRF organized a seminar for school children in Wayanad as part of their National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) supported school nutrition garden project. Themed “Healthy Environment for Nutrition Security,” the event featured an interaction with Dr. Anil Zachariah, an environmentalist, who spoke about the importance of environmental protection for a stable food supply. Mr. Joseph John delivered the World Environment Day message, highlighting the critical link between a healthy environment and our well-being. To inspire students to replicate the project at home, Nutri-plant kits were distributed.
Tree Planting Ceremony and Talk Mark World Environment Day at Adimali College with MSSRF
Adimali : MSSRF participated in World Environment Day celebrations at Carmelgiri College Adimali, co-organized by the college’s NSS Unit, Nature Club, and the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers. Sijo Thomas Padinjarekara, MSSRF Development Coordinator, delivered a session on environmental issues. A tree sapling was also planted on campus to commemorate the occasion.
Community Engagement and Environmental Education programmes Highlight World Environment Day in Kanthalloor
Kanthalloor : As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the MSSRF- SBI Grama Seva project organized a series of impactful activities across five villages in the Kanthalloor Gram Panchayat. Community members and students actively participated in planting tree saplings at the Gram Seva Kendra premises in Perumala, Puthoor, Kulachivayal, Kanakkayam, and Churakkulam villages.
The celebrations also featured engaging programs aimed at promoting environmental awareness among the community and students. These included essay writing, poster designing, and drawing competitions. To further encourage sustainable practices, vegetable gardens were established at Sacred Heart High School and St. Pius X School in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department and Forest Department. Prizes were distributed to recognize the participants’ efforts.
MSSRF Educates Students on Kolagappara’s Ecological Importance and Plant Diversity on World Environment Day
Meengadi : MSSRF has also provided one session on ecological importance and the plant diversity of Kolagappara, a hill ecosystem in the Krishanagiri village of Meenangady Panchayath, during the World Environment Day program organized by the Panchayath. Ms C S Dhanya, Scientist (MSSRF) presented the outcomes of an MSSRF study on assessing plant species diversity in Kolagappara. She also led the study trip to Kolagappara, where she explored and explained the region’s rich plant wealth to the participating students, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the local biodiversity.
RET Plants Take Root in Karapuzha: MSSRF Supports World Environment Day Initiative
Karapuzha : MSSRF joined hands with Navakeralam Karma Padhathi, Haritha Keralam Mission, Wayanad District Panchayat, Muttil Grama Panchayat, and MNREGA for a tree plantation drive in Karapuzha on World Environment Day. MSSRF contributed RET plants for the initiative, which was inaugurated by Sri. Samshad Marakkar, District Panchayat President.
