Wayanad, an aspirational district of Kerala evidently reports a low status in health and nutrition indicators within the well-performed state of Kerala. In this backdrop, CAbC MSSRF initiated the establishment of 10 model school nutrition gardens with the support of NABARD.
The initiative titled ‘Kuttikarshakakootam’ is intended to mainstream nutrition literacy, and awareness about native nutri-rich crop diversity, basic agronomic practices and climate-smart agriculture to school students.
The model being established at school levels with 32 crop varieties will be replicated by students in their homesteads as well. As a sustainable solution to malnutrition, the initiative got an overwhelming response from the student community.
