Three Days Rural Innovators Meet 2018 Concluded

Automatic cup hanger-producing machine, Easy Milking machine and Automatic Water level control machines bagged the best Rural Innovation Award 2018 in the recently concluded Rural Innovators meet 2018. The meet was jointly organized by KSCSTE and M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation CAbC. Rural innovation award consists of a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 250002/-. Six special awards and a Student award were also given in the function which consists of a citation and cash prize of Rs.5000/- Awards were given away by Sri. M. C. Duttan Advisor to Chief Minister, Govt. of Kerala.


It took nearly two years for the manufacturing of Automatic cup hanger producing machine and the making cost is around 4 lakhs says Mr. Mohan Kumar from Kollam. The machine using 2.5mm GI cable for the production of cup hanger and consume only 750 Watts of electricity he added. Support has got from KSCSTE in the patenting of this machine but more assistance is needed in the licensing and commercial production of this equipment he added.

Rural Innovators Meet 2018


Sri. P.D. Joseph from Kothamangalam receives another Rural Innovation Award for his Easy Milking Machine invention. This machine could milk 13 litres within a short span of ten minutes and can be operated with ease Says Sri. Joseph. Nearly one and half years were taken to develop this machine and have plan to develop the machine using the cash prize received he added. The third prize of Rural Innovation goes to Mr. P. Ajayan from Thalassery who invented the Automatic water level control system.


Special awards were given to Mr. Shaji Varghese and Mr. Thomas Chacko for their invention of Dust removing system, Mr. Bagyaraj from Pathanamthitta for his Electronic Voltage detector, Mr. N.T. Joseph for his invention of Consova Rice Drying machine, Mr. V. P. Dhivakaran for his Arm and Foot protector, Kumari Oli Aman Jodha of Wayanad for her Honey bee transferring machine, Wick irrigation and soil less farming system by Mr. Shibukumar, Thiruvananthapuram for their inventions. Another special award was given to the students from Amal Jyothi engineering college, Erumeli for their invention of Cassava uprooting machine.
