Dairy products unit supported under the HDFC Bank CSR programme inaugurated by Sri. P. Rajeev, Minister for Industry, Law and Coir, Govt of Kerala. HDFC Bank’s officials, Representatives of Local Self Governments and the stakeholders of the programme participated in the event.
Five-member women’s group runs the unit and was also trained in product development, marketing, and entrepreneurship. The project has supported various machinery including milk pasteurizer, cream separator, cooler, fridge, sealing machines, manual sip-up machine, manual paneer press, manual batch coding stamp, and curd percolator. Various value-added dairy products such as paneer, curd, ghee, butter, buttermilk, peda, sip up, etc. will be targeted for production.
Elamkunnapuzha, Njarakkal, Nayarambalam, Edavanakkad, Kuzhuppilly, Pallipuram, Moothakunnam, Vadakkekkara, Chendamangalam, Varappuzha, Alanagad, Karumalloor, Chengamanad and Parakkadavu are the villages where the HDFC Bank Parivartan programme is being implemented in the district from 2021 for a period of 3 years. The Holistic Rural Development Programme is with a special focus on Rural Entrepreneurship development for improving the socio-economic status of marginal fishermen and farming communities and to enhance the community’s resilience to natural disasters and climate change impacts.
The programme aims to improve the livelihoods and economic security of rural communities and to restore and protect the farm production capacities and off-farm income-generating activities thereby creating a positive impact on their disaster resilience. Creating successful Agri-entrepreneurship models by strengthening potential farmer co-operatives in the region is also included. The objective is to have Local Economic Activation with 56 community-led enterprises promoted in which at least 50% must be women-led. The programme will be implemented in close collaboration with the Local Self Governments and Line Departments of the State and by building people’s institutions for ensuring the sustainability of the actions
