MLA Sri. Thomas K Thomas inaugurated the new meat processing unit at Kuttanadu that aimed to process and sell meat, fish and eggs supported by the HDFC Bank MSSRF Parivarthan programme.
The major objective of the unit is to create sustainable and better employment opportunities for rural women since they are deprived of any income due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The unit could directly benefit seven women members from five villages of Alapuzha who were sufficiently trained in the processing and management of the unit. The processing centre was provided with instruments such as a chopping table, feather remover, deep freezer, water filter units, stainless steel knives, etc and will be taken care of by the unit members.
The launch was officially inaugurated by Sri.Thomas K Thomas, MLA Kuttanad in the presence of Jincy Jolly (Block Panchayat President, Kuttanad), Ms. Mini Manmathan (Grama Panchayat President of Nedumudy), Mr.Varghese Joseph.
