Rural Agricultural Innovators Meet: The rural changemakers Showcased their Innovations

Agricultural Innovations that have the right potential to solve a real-life issue or to make a novel understanding made the Rural Agriculture Meet (RAIM-2021) a unique one of its kind. The rural change-makers from all walks of life from all across the state of Kerala had participated in the event with their distinctive products and ideas. An array of inventions starts from the technique to produce nutritiously rich microgreen to paddy threshing machines were participated in the event. The meet provided the Innovators with an opportunity to showcase their inventions and to get interact with scientists and fellow innovators so that they can improve their inventions in various ways and means.


An expert committee was constituted to figure out the best innovations and have selected ten best inventions out of fifty applicants. The selected best innovations will provide necessary support services to improvise the innovations through meeting with experts, other innovators and institutions working in similar areas. Support services will also provide to those innovations that have novelty and distinctiveness for protection with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The meet provided orientation to the innovators towards how to protect their innovations with IPR and the ways the means to start entrepreneurship with the inventions.

Dr. P.M Sidharthan, Scientist (Rtd), ISRO inaugurated the event where Dr. N. Anil Kumar, Senior Director, MSSRF presided over the function. Dr. Shakeela Director, MSSRF made the welcome speech, Dr. John Abraham, Associate Professor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Dr. K.P Shivaji, Associate Professor, Kerala Agriculture University, Sri. M.S. Sabu, Executive Engineer, Department of Agriculture served as the executive committee members of the programme. Dr. Rathish IG, Assistant Professor, IPR Cell CUSAT made a lecture on Intellectual Property Rights and Innovations and Mr. Albin John, Faculty, SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute made the presentation on how to start entrepreneurship with an innovation. Ms. Dhanya C.S, Scientist, MSSRF Sri. Joseph John, Scientist, MSSRF were spoke on the occasion.


M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation CAbC together with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India conducted this programme.
