Student Volunteer Internships at MSSRF-Centre, Wayanad

Student volunteer internships are offered to rural postgraduates in Kerala to work with MSSRF’s team engaged in helping the state to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. The internship period will be 3 months to 6 months and will have the opportunity for the selected students to set learning goals and objectives on any of the five Zero Hunger Targets. The targets that are focused by MSSRF are 2.1 (Universal Access to Safe and Nutritious Food); 2.2 (End all forms of malnutrition); 2.3 (Double the Farm productivity and income of small-scale food producers); 2.4. (Sustainable Food production and resilient agricultural practices) and, 2.5 (Maintain genetic diversity in food production).

The internship is to bring in enthusiasm and new ideas to the work of MSSRF’s team in Wayanad who works with the Local Self Governments in the district to achieve the Zero Hunger SDG. The Selected students will be exposed to on-the-ground learning, to explore a specific area of research interest in the area of zero hunger and expand his/her professional network, and also to develop student’s knowledge and skills required for success in a professional environment. This is purely a work education programme intended to train students to assume responsible roles in society and to help them to explore career options in sustainable and equitable development

Students will be contributing to the Following Five areas:

  • Malnutrition-Biodiversity loss-climate change Nexus
  • Genetic garden of Wild Food plants and Crop Wild Relatives
  • Ecosystem-based Adaptation
  • Climate-Smart Agriculture
  • Value chain development for Forest& Traditional food plant diversity
