Livelihood development and Food Security through Promotion of Pulses Roots, Tubers, Banana and Leafy Vegetables (PRTBL) For achieving the food and nutritional security and livelihood improvement, 600 PRTBL based household nutrition gardens; 30 pulse seed villages; one centralized Germplasm and community conservation plots are planned to establish.

HIGHLIGHTS

Home nutrition gardens, as model for ensuring nutrition at household level, established in the homesteads of 110 families in Wayanad and Thrissur districts

Nutrition Gardens established in 50 Anganwadis (preprimary schools) in Wayanad

Three Tribal women groups trained in Nutri food recipes.

Germplasm for pulses (1 species and 21 varieties); tuber crops (5 species and 18 varieties); roots (3 species and 14 varieties); banana (18 varieties); leafy green(42 species); maintained as ex situ conservation in the Agro biodiversity Zone of MSSBG

Community conservation plots for banana, pulse (25 varieties) and leafy greens (25) established and
maintained in selected sites of Wayanad, Thrissur and Kannur districts.

The pulses seed village program initiated in seven sites in Wayanad and one site in Kannur district.
