Jithin N M
A Post Graduate in Plantation Development from Calicut University, Jithin M M is currently working as Garden Manager at CAbC, M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Kalpetta.
He completed his MSc in September 2004. During that period he had successfully completed his dissertation work at CAbC, MSSRF, Kalpetta. He was one of the active members of “Agro-biodiversity Conservation Corps” at CAbC MSSRF from 2000 to 2001.
After completion of M.Sc he joined Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi as a Tech. Assistant in 2004. In 2005, he was selected as Research Fellow in the project “Mapping and Quantitative assessment of Geographic distribution and the Population status of Plant resources of western Ghats” at University of Agricultural Sciences, Ghandhi Krishi Vinjan Kendra, Bangalore and continued there till 2010.
His second tenure at CAbC was started in 2010 as Research Fellow and promoted to Garden Manager in 2015. Currently he is pursuing Ph.D in ‘Bio-systematic study on selected oil yielding rare, endemic and threatened tree species of Kerala part of Western Ghats, India’ from University of Madras under the guideship of Dr. N. Anil Kumar.
He has good knowledge in field explorations, identification of plants, flier’s preparation, preparation and maintenance of herbarium, Plant Tissue Culture etc. He had been working in various forests of Western Ghats ranging from evergreen to scrub type and involved in studies conducted in sanctuaries such as Silent valley National Park, Muthanga, Chinnar and Aaralam Wildlife sanctuaries. He participated in many International and National seminars, workshops etc. He presented papers in IAAT conferences in 2007 and 2015.
He has to his credit 4 EFL(Ecologically Fragile Land) reports and 6 scientific papers.
